According to recent statistics, Sweden
plays host to the world's largest ice hotel. Approx 200 km (120 miles)
north of the Arctic Circle, this ice hotel was first built in 1990 and has been
rebuilt every December since then, increasing in size each year until
in 2002/2003 it had approx 5,000 m2 of floor area, 25 suites and 60
bedrooms. The beds are made of ice and covered in reindeer pelts and
features of the ice hotel include a cinema, ice bar, ice chapel and numerous
ice sculptures. The hotel is called: ICEHOTEL AB and is located in Jukkasjärvi,
Sweden.
