Think
of the word ICE and different things come to mind. It depends on where
you are and the context, for the word has many different meanings.
in a bar it means ice cool drinks and the mixing of cocktails, etc;
at a skating rink it conjurs up the anticipated excitement of a skating
or ice hockey competition;
in a jewellery context it means diamonds;
in a search on Google
it brings up the Institue of Civil Engineers (ICE) in the results;
in a weather report it's one of the main things road users listen
out for in the winter months;
The list goes on and it's only when you begin to think about it that
you realise how common "ice" is in our vocabulary and the
variety of roles it plays in our lives.
