Ice
rinks are popular all over the world and the ice itself is constantly monitored for quality - it gets pitted, scarred and dirty very easily. This is where resurfacing equipment comes in. Ice resurfacing is a specialised business requiring expensive machines being operated with skill, experience and expertise. So whether an ice rink is to be used for pleasure skating or for sports competitions
such as ice hockey, only specialist companies get involved. These companies go to great lengths to ensure that their equipment and level of service is top notch. There is a lot at skate ... sorry stake ... when you have hundreds of people using an ice rink every day.

Another interesting fact about ice rinks is that they are not always permanent fixtures
- there are many portable ice rinks in use today. We even found a website for a company ("Portable Ice Rink Company") that claims to specialise in portable ice rinks: http://www.portable-ice-rink.com
In addition to ice rinks
there are also
indoor snow parks that need ice making for activities such as snowboarding, ice walls,
tunnels, ice trails, etc. There are now indoor snow parks in many countries with about 50 indoor snow resorts currently in operation worldwide. Japan has the most followed by Netherlands, UK, Belgium, Germany and China amongst others. Some even has snowboard schools for beginners and many families now take holidays in these indoor snow parks as they offer activities for all ages.
